Celebrating the Beauty of Incremental Progress
In the rush to achieve our dreams, it's easy to fall into the trap of "hurry and arrive" thinking. We crave instant success, forgetting that greatness is often built one step at a time. I know for me I get caught in this type of thinking especially when my countdown age clock kicks in. The thought that I am not getting any younger and I need to “hurry up” and become accomplished tends to plague my thinking at times. On top of that, the thought that I should have been far along on this journey by now doesn’t help either. When I get into this critical and cyclical thought pattern, I forget about all the effort and achievements I have made.
Today, let's take a moment to celebrate the joys of incremental progress on our creative journeys.
Every voice demo produced, every dance step practiced, and every creative business idea written down brings us closer to our goals. It's not just about the arrival; it's getting excited about the journey, and finding joy in every small victory along the way.
Here are some strategies to overcome the "hurry and arrive" mindset:
Embrace Patience: Disney World wasn't built in a day, and neither is creative mastery. Trust in the process and allow yourself the time to grow.
Set Realistic Goals: Break down your big dreams into smaller, achievable wins. Don’t forget to treat yourself, no matter how small, the wins are. You are worth acknowledgment of the time and effort you put into your creative craft. Mainly for yourself.
Practice present thinking: Stay present in the moment and have fun on the journey. Focus on the progress you've made instead of constantly chasing the next goal. Easier said than done yet, you know what... #youareworthit
